Sonoma Clean Power (SCP) supports SchoolsRule Sonoma County because it believes that thriving, equitable communities begin with opportunities for every student

As the public, not-for-profit electricity provider for Sonoma and Mendocino counties, SCP has delivered cleaner, cost-competitive energy to more than 500,000 residents and businesses since its launch in 2014. Unlike investor-owned utilities, SCP is locally governed and reinvests revenues into programs that benefit customers and the community at large. SCP’s mission is to turn the tide on the climate crisis through bold ideas and practical programs.

SCP is deeply committed to community impact across Sonoma and Mendocino counties. This year alone, they have made a $30,000 contribution to SchoolsRule Sonoma County and an additional $20,000 to help launch SchoolsRule in Mendocino County. By supporting SchoolsRule Sonoma County, SCP helps ensure that essential academic enrichment programs in literacy, STEAM, student well-being, and agriculture & hospitality are accessible to every student in the county. This promotes equity, opportunity, and long-term community success.

“I’ve always held great respect for educators, and when schools need support, those who can should step up,” said SCP Events Manager Sean Dalton. “As a member of this community, I’m proud our contributions help expand access to literacy, arts, and STEAM programs, giving students opportunities to thrive. Partnering with SchoolsRule lets us invest back into the communities we serve.”

To date, SCP has provided more than $5 million in grants supporting nonprofits, workforce development, fire recovery, and youth education. These investments demonstrate SCP’s belief that strong communities depend on strong schools and equitable opportunities for all students.

SCP’s mission is reflected in one of their most innovative offerings called EverGreen, which is the nation’s first 100% local renewable energy service available 24/7. EverGreen supplies locally sourced solar and geothermal power to participating customers, reducing carbon emissions while supporting local clean energy jobs and strengthening community resilience.
